Projects
Euroheat & Power is a proactive association, taking part in many research, development and demonstrative projects, all relating to district heating - in terms of technology, markets or policy.
We work with various associations and initiatives, including European and international bodies. On this page you will find details of our ongoing projects, as well as details of past projects we have been involved with. You may also find the links section useful.
Solar District Heating Take-Off
Euroheat & Power participates in the Intelligent Energy Europe supported project “Solar District Heating Take-Off “ which started in July 2009 and is coordinated by the Solites Institute in Germany.
In this project, partners analyze the market conditions and barriers for solar district heating (SDH) in Europe to prepare policy recommendations and draft support schemes for decision makers. District heating experts and industries together at one table with experts and industries of the solar thermal sector elaborate standard working documents for solar district heating, necessary for commercial activities on this sector. Capacity on the supply side is built up by training and support structures. An SDH information campaign will disseminate the project results in 18 European countries, motivating and supporting new market actors in more European countries to start activities on this field.
Project Leaflets, explaining the aims and purpose of the project have now been produced, and can be downloaded here.
More information on the project is available on the site www.solar-district-heating.eu.

The Ecoheat 4 cities project was initated by DHC+ and is supported by the IEE. The aim of the project is to support the implementation of the new Renewable Energy Sources Directive (RES Directive). The directive promotes the use of renewable energy sources,( including biomass, hydro, wind and solar power )while also reducing (primary) energy consumption. In particular, it focuses on the need to expand and strengthen existing infrastructures that make the integration of renewable energies possible, and to remove non-technological barriers to their implementation.
Ecoheat4cities addresses the non-technological barriers through promoting municipal and public acceptance of district heating and cooling systems by establishing a voluntary green energy (heating and cooling) labeling scheme. The scheme aims to encourage local politicians, citizens and potential investors to make renewable energy and energy efficiency based choices, by providing them with the information they need. Labels are crucial drivers for market transformation, orienting consumers’ choices towards more energy efficient appliances and thus realizing the potential of available technologies. The project will last 30 months. More information is available on the project website www.ecoheat4cities.eu

Technology Platform
District Heating and Cooling plus (DHC+) Technology Platform
Euroheat & Power is founding member of the DHC+ Technology Platform which aims to provide a European level framework for stimulating research and innovation for district heating and cooling.
Officially established on 1 January 2009, the platform gathers a wide variety of stakeholders throughout Europe to draw up a Vision for the sector (published in May 2009), identify strategic research priorities and ensure the fulfilment of the sector’s research needs by means of project implementation. Euroheat & Power project activities are progressively implemented with the framework of this platform.
